Traffic & Road Safety
Traffic in South Asia is very different from what you might be used to in the West,
and even seasoned riders need some time to adapt. We’ve designed our route to minimize riding on major highways
and busier roads, but there are still sections where you will encounter more traffic.
When riding through busier areas, our guides are adept at keeping the group together and communicating effectively to ensure everyone’s safety. They’re skilled at managing the flow of bikes and will guide you through traffic as a cohesive unit.
Prior to departure, we provide a thorough briefing on what to expect from the roads and traffic habits, including how to handle unexpected hazards and adapt your riding style. We also offer ongoing guidance during the trip itself—through communications on the road, rest-stop briefings and informal discussions—to help you become confident in dealing with the local road conditions.
This combination of careful route planning, experienced guidance and continuous support ensures you can enjoy the adventure of riding in the Himalayas while staying safe and well-prepared.
Travel Information
Planning a trip to South Asia—or the other side of the world—takes more than just booking a flight.
It’s about understanding the culture, logistics, and small details that make travel smoother. In this section, you’ll find essential information to help you prepare for your journey, including guidance on arrival and departure, what to expect on the ground, food and accommodation insights, and other practical tips to help you make the most of your adventure.
Accommodation
Most of the accommodation we use on this motorcycle tour consists of locally-run mountain lodges, hotels,
and rural retreats. While they may be simple compared to Western hotels, they offer a surprising level of comfort given how remote these regions are — and their warmth and hospitality more than make up for the lack of luxury.

HOW MANY RIDERS WILL THERE BE IN A GROUP?
We typically run groups of 6 to 12 riders. This size is perfect for maintaining a tight-knit team dynamic while ensuring everyone gets personalized attention from the guides.
WHAT IS THE TYPICAL AGE-RANGE OF RIDERS?
Our riders usually range from 25 to 60 years old. What matters more than age is your fitness level and your passion for adventure and mountain culture.
WHAT IS THE RIDING LIKE?
Expect a mix of flowing singletrack, ancient mule trails, and technical Himalayan descents. The terrain can be rugged, featuring rocks, roots, and high-altitude passes.
DO I HAVE TO CARRY ALL MY GEAR?
No. A dedicated support vehicle carries all your main luggage between overnight stops. You only need to carry a small daypack for hydration, snacks, and a spare layer.
WHO WILL BE GUIDING US?
You will be led by certified local Bhutanese guides who are experts in both the trails and the local culture, supported by a professional mechanical team.
WHAT ACCOMMODATION CAN I EXPECT?
A blend of hand-picked boutique hotels, traditional Bhutanese farmstays, and high-quality expedition camps that offer comfort in the heart of the wilderness.
WHICH MEALS ARE INCLUDED?
All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner) are included. We focus on fresh, local ingredients with a mix of Bhutanese and international cuisine.
DO I NEED TO TIP THE GUIDES?
Tipping is not mandatory but is highly appreciated in Bhutanese culture as a gesture of thanks for exceptional service and hard work.
WHAT CLOTHING AND KIT SHOULD I BRING?
Layering is key. You'll need breathable riding gear, a waterproof jacket, warm layers for the evenings, and full protective gear (helmet, knee pads, gloves).
IS THERE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO LAUNDRY?
Laundry services are available at most hotels in larger towns. However, options may be limited during the remote camping sections of the tour.
CAN I BRING MY OWN ACCESSORIES FOR THE RENTAL?
Yes! We encourage you to bring your own pedals and saddle if you have a specific preference to ensure maximum comfort on the rental bikes.
WHAT STYLE OF TOUR IS THIS?
This is an "All-Mountain Expedition." It’s a mix of adventure, culture, and high-altitude challenge, designed for riders who love exploration as much as the ride.
WHAT IF THE TRAIL IS BEYOND MY COMFORT ZONE?
No shame in walking! Our guides are there to help. If a section is too technical, you can walk it, or in many areas, there are fire-road alternatives.
WHAT IS THE BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE FOR BHUTAN AIRLINES?
Typically, Bhutan Airlines allows 30kg (66 lbs) for checked baggage and 7kg (15 lbs) for carry-on. We recommend checking your specific ticket for the most up-to-date limits.
